Full circle It used to be that whenever i needed to get away from it all I would just throw a hoodie on, jump in the car and take off. My dad always taught me to step back. Head space he calls it.
"You gotta get to a place with no noise" he would say. Sometimes I never understood the significance or the relevance of it . But I listened anyways. Now , I cant just run when I want. I had to learn to share the head space . The weight of motherhood as a single mom gets heavy. But its a heaviness I would be lost without. They became a part of my quiet time and they need it too .. I take them with me now when I escape, and I see them recharge too. You find yourself on the edge of a cliff on a snow day in minus weather. I wasn't cold, I wasn't anything. It was quiet, I didn't hear anything. I understood the significance- that silence. That place is where you need to get to. When you find that and look back over your shoulder to see your kids right there with you in that same spot.......well that's just awesome. To know my Dad taught me the relevance- makes it even "awesomer"!!! Glad I listened to you. |
